It has come to the notice of the Business Association of Nagas (BAN) that cadres of a Naga National Political Group (NNPG) has been demanding “Tax” from the proprietor of T.K service / Progressive Motors Dimapur and that the group has threatened to down the shutters if their demands were not met.
The proprietor –T.K Angami, a well known and veteran businessman employs about 270 people in his establishments. He is an example and a living icon for young Naga entrepreneurs, for which he deserves respect.
BAN sternly condemns and denounces this inhumanly act of demanding this “so called tax” when the entire country is under lockdown imposed under the Disaster Management Act due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Businesses have been affected very badly in the last few months, especially the automobile sector. Instead of giving some words of brotherly encouragement in such a difficult situation, threatening a fellow Naga is uncalled for.
Hon’ble Governor Nagaland, who is currently spending so much time with the NNPGs discussing “Peace” may also kindly advice our NNPGs against issuing threats and collection of illegal tax.
BAN appeals to all our NNPGs to spare the business community in such difficult times as Naga businesses are yet to recover from the impact of COVID-19.
