NIDC & BAN organizes vendor development programme for entrepreneurs

State level Vendor Development Programme for ST/SC entrepreneurs organized by Nagaland Industrial Development Corporation (NIDC) in collaboration with Department of Industries & Commerce Govt. of Nagaland and Business Association of Nagas (BAN) under National SC-ST Hub Scheme of Ministry of Micro Small and Medium Enterprises (MSME), Govt. of India was held on Friday at Hotel Saramati, Dimapur.

Speaking at the inaugural function as special guest Mr. K. Hokishe Assumi, Director, Industries & Commerce Dept. Government of Nagaland, appreciated NIDC and BAN for organizing the event which is first of its kind in Nagaland and encouraged the budding entrepreneurs to scale up from single level to cluster level to meet the supply chain demand and assured that the Government is always there to support the entrepreneurs. The Director encouraged the entrepreneurs to start innovative businesses rather than copy paste and develop sustainable business models.

In his key note address, Deputy Director, Ministry of MSME, Govt. of India Tali Longchar mentioned the good news that the Directorate of MSME exclusively for Nagaland will be inaugurated shortly in Dimapur. He mentioned that in January 2020, every district will organize exhibitions, trade fairs, workshops and seminars and a budget of Rs. 10 to 20 lakhs per district has been allocated for the same. Mr Longchar also explained about Central Public Procurement Portal and Govt. e-Marketplace (GeM) and stressed that entrepreneurs must equip themselves with digital know how to be competitive.

BAN president Vitho Zao in his special address said that BAN with around 400 members is a young association comprising of Doctors, Engineers, business graduates and many other professionals who wish to learn more about the governments schemes, policies and procurement procedures and requested the Government to conduct more programs like this in future.

Temjenyanger Jamir, Manager, NIDC while speaking at the inaugural session stated that Vendor Development Programme (VDP) is basically organized in line with the Public Procurement Policy 2012 with a core importance to SC/ST entrepreneurs. He stated that the VDP is an awareness programme to create linkage of SC/ST entrepreneurs with the central ministries and CPSUs in procurement of Goods and Services.

Dr. Yan Murry, Information & Publicity Secretary, BAN chaired the inaugural programme. General Manager NIDC P. Zuvito felicitated the dignitaries. Invocation was pronounced by Kaniti Aye, Associate Pastor, DSBC and Functional Manager, DIC Dimapur Kavito Zhimomi proposed the vote of thanks.
